Life Members' Pentathlon
In addition to our usual weekly competitions, Algester Little Athletics usually holds an annual 'Life Members Pentathlon' each season. The event is open to current Algester Little Athletics members only, and the date is advised at the beginning of the season (it is usually held in November). The Life Member’s Pentathlon is held at Col Bennett Park.
Pentathlon is a multi-event competition. Practically, it is not too different to our usually weekly competitions, and each age group will compete in 5 events. Athletes must compete in all five events of the pentathlon competition – Hurdles, Sprint, Distance, Long or High Jump, Discus or Shotput – for their age group. Points are allocated according to the level of performance achieved in each of the five events, for each age group, boys and girls.

Athletes placing first, second or third in their age group will receive a medal. Medals will be presented after the pentathlon is finished (ie same day). All athletes who compete in the pentathlon event will receive a certificate with their points score on trophy day. The overall Pentathlon Champion, being the athlete who scores the highest points tally on the day (boy or girl), will be announced at our trophy day and receive a separate award.
